Becoming a Member.
SSK welcomes all elgible persons to register as Members of the Soiety.
Eligible persons are required to pay full Membership fees and Annual Subscription Fees to maintain an Active membership with SSK.
Membership Categories
There are five (5) categories of membership of SSK
Student
Undergraduate or Diploma students in Kenya and abroad that are specializing in Statistics.
- Student membership is open upon payment of entry fee of Ksh. 500 and annual subscription fee of Ksh. 500.
- Student membership shall have no voting rights.
Ordinary
The voting membership will comprise ordinary members as follows:
- Any person with a Bachelors degree in Statistics (Biostatistics, Biometrics inclusive) from a recognized institution shall be eligible for ordinary membership of SSK and shall, subject to the approval of the Executive committee on payment of membership fee of Ksh. 5,000 when joining and payment of an annual subscription of Ksh. 2,000, or
- Any person with a related quantitative degree along the lines of economics, social statistics, econometrics, epidemiology, data science from a recognized institution shall be eligible for ordinary membership of SSK and shall, subject to the approval of the Executive committee on payment of membership fee of Ksh. 5,000 when joining and payment of an annual subscription Ksh. 2,000, or
- Any person with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a postgraduate qualification in Statistics from a recognized institution shall be eligible for ordinary membership of SSK and shall, subject to the approval of the Executive committee on payment of membership fee of Ksh. 5,000 when joining and payment of an annual subscription Ksh. 2,000, or
- Any person with a Masters in Statistics after a diploma in Statistics from a recognized institution shall be eligible for ordinary membership of SSK and shall, subject to the approval of the Executive committee on payment of membership fee of Ksh. 5,000 when joining and payment of an annual subscription of Ksh. 2,000, or
- All users of Statistics from registered user agencies upon approval by the Executive committee and confirmation at a (special) general meeting. They will be entitled to a payment of membership fee of Ksh. 5,000 when joining and payment of an annual subscription of Ksh. 2,000.
Associate
Any person/group that does not qualify to be an Ordinary Member but is interested in the activities of SSK may be recommended by any Ordinary Member to the Executive Committee for Associate Membership.
- The membership shall become effective with the approval of the General meeting.
- Associate members shall pay an entry fee of Ksh. 5,000 for associate membership and an annual subscription fee of Ksh. 2,000.
- Associate members shall have no voting rights.
Corporate
Any organization collecting or using Statistics and any Statistical club, Society or Association of a recognized school or institution are eligible for membership subject to vetting and approval by SSK's Executive committee, and upon payment of membership of Ksh. 100,000 and an annual subscription fee of Ksh. 50,000.
Honorary
Any person/group, whose former or current statistical activities merit it, may be recommended by any Ordinary Member of SSK for Honorary Membership, with approval of the Executive committee.
- An honorary member shall be exempted from payment of annual subscription and membership fees.
- Honorary members shall have no voting rights
